Grace Chapel CHurch
Grace Chapel was founded by then Elder Samuel and Mother Rosetta White in the City of New Haven, Connecticut in
1982. The Lord blessed the new work to begin at the YWCA building on Howe Street in New Haven, and in 1983, Grace Chapel moved to the present location, 777 Dixwell Avenue. However, two years later we experienced a major fire which destroyed over 80 percent of the building. What was a very devastating trauma for us, the Lord gave us "Beauty for Ashes."
Grace Chapel is affiliated with the House of God, Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Inc. It is an international organization with locations in Connecticut (New Haven, Waterbury, Hartford, and Manchester), the United States and abroad in Africa, West Indies, Jamaica and Europe.

BISHOP SAMUEL WHITE
Bishop Samuel White was raised by very strict, God-fearing parents. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at a very young age and continued to grow in his walk with the Lord. His father was a well-known bishop, pastor, Bible school teacher and founder of several churches. Bishop White's first Bible training was given to him as he sat at the feet of his own father.
His first assignment in ministry was as an ordained deacon for several years, and he later felt the call of God upon his life to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He attended The Akron School of the Bible and the Moody Bible Extension School, both located in Akron, Ohio. He served as the President of the Youth Congress Department of Ohio and Buffalo, NY. In 1973 he was ordained to work in the ministry by the late President General Bishop A.H. White, the late Bishop T. W. Drone, the late Bishop Freeman Wilson and others.
In 1974 he was called to the pastorate and relocated from Akron, Ohio to Waterbury, CT, where he and his wife, Mother Rosetta White, served at Victory Tabernacle in Waterbury for seven years. He also served as a Member of the Executive Board of the Y.M.C.A. for several years; as Chairman of the Postmaster’s Equal Employment Opportunity Committee; and as president of the Mayor’s Youth Service System. In February 1982, under the leading of the Holy Spirit, Bishop and Mother White founded Grace Chapel Church of the Living God in New Haven, CT, where they continue to serve the people of God today. He served as State Elder of the Southern New England Diocese from 1981 to January 2007, and was consecrated to serve God in the office of Bishop in October 2007; he currently serves as Bishop Emeritus of the Southern New England Diocese. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Fresh Oil Institute School of Higher Learning in June 2010.
Bishop and Mother White have had a never-ending love for the Lord, the people of God, and the work God has assigned to their hands. On Saturday, March 2, 2019, Bishop White faced an incredibly difficult and challenging time as the Lord decided to call our sweet Mother White home. The news was devastating and absolutely heartbreaking for the entire Grace Chapel family and for the many lives within the community and beyond whom she had touched. She was truly a precious jewel who loved the Lord with all her might, and she will be missed dearly. Her memory and legacy live on, however; Bishop and Mother White were married for 64 years since their union in 1954, and their marriage has produced four daughters, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Bishop White has faithfully served at Grace Chapel since 1982, and as God leads, will continue to serve the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
